Nyla

Nyla was a lovable American Staffordshire Terrier mix that we met in May 2017 while photographing the Concordia Parish Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) Animal Shelter in Ferriday, Louisiana. Nyla arrived at the shelter on December 2, 2016, pregnant and suffering from barbed wire wound tightly around her neck. She soon gave birth to a healthy puppy, which was quickly adopted. Her neck wound, however, was not healing as expected so the vet performed exploratory surgery and found a rubber band deeply embedded in her neck muscles. Once removed, the wound healed and Nyla went up for adoption. It took many months but thanks to SMP's picture of her, a wonderful family with a Pit Bull Dog made her a part of their forever home. Now she sleeps on a couch with her new four-legged BFF surrounded by love every day!

This picture changed Nyla's life and helped give her a future!
