Chopper

Chopper was a mixed-breed dog, possibly German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever that we photographed in January 2011 at the Adams County Animal Shelter in Brighton, Colorado. As with Voodoo, Chopper had landed on the euthanasia list due to his strength and handling challenges. Fortunately for him, the kennel manager was familiar with the life-saving power of great photography (see Scooby's story) and agreed to give Chopper a temporary "stay of execution" after seeing our picture of him.

After the stay expired the kennel manager was unable to destroy Chopper because the photo had touched her heart and her heart had changed her mind. She removed his name from the euthanasia list and vowed to find him a home. Before that could happen, however, a rescue saw his picture and pulled him into their no-kill adoption facility.

This picture saved Chopper's life!
